Futhark as a System of Writing in English

Image
Disclaimer:   I don’t have a Ph.D. in ancient languages or writing systems.   I’ve been doing this as a hobby for years and have used the described method to communicate with friends who speak, read and write English, just for fun.   If you choose to use this method, I hope it brings you the same level of fun as it has for me over the years.   This post simply covers writing in English using a different method, not the symbolism of the Runes. Writing English in the Elder Futhark can be relatively simple once you get the hang of the concept.   As many English speakers/writers know, the language is pretty messed up.   Words are filled with unnecessary letters such as silent letters.   For example, the word “pneumonia”.   Spelling this phonetically it would look like “newmoanyuh”.   Weird isn’t it?   Well, if you’re going to write in runes, you’ll need to get used to this idea.   Other examples of phonetic spellings are: ...

This is addressed to only certain people. As you read, it will be obvious as to whom it is addressed. As an American, I'd greatly appreciate it if you would quit being stupid. Your actions are not patriotic and your "logic" is based on ignorance and propaganda.  America isn't a Christian Nation, nor is it a White Nation. Our nation is a wonderful living, breathing organism made up of people from all over the world and you are a cancerous tumor. While our founders had their faults, they tried to create a nation that was founded on the ideals of freedom, independence and personal responsibility. We have evolved, over time, and the silent majority of us try each day to make this a better place. If you are a loser, its your own fault. Your problems are not caused by any ethnic group or immigrants and your hateful actions are causing division, conflict and stress among your fellow Americans. We have much more important things to handle such as homelessness, poverty...

I'm recreating this from a post that I made on Facebook which was reported and summarily deleted after someone got their feelings hurt. With all this mayhem going on in Charlottesville, VA and the emboldened Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists, this was bound to happen to me at some time or another. First of all, let me set this up.  My friends know me well and they know how I am about race, sexuality and many other social issues.  I'm very tolerant.  You do you and I'll do me; that's my personal philosophy.  My appearance suggests otherwise.  I'm a 49-year-old medically retired, Disabled Veteran with a big red beard and a shaved head who wears a big silver Mjölnir (Thor's Hammer) around my neck.  I also ride a Harley-Davidson. I'm also the father of two lovely daughters, a husband, Master Mason and Past Master of my Masonic Lodge in Atlanta. Now, on with the story. On Wednesday August 16th I was busy running errands.  I had stopped by a friend'...

There are always other options.

The following isn’t a simple rant in reply to one person or group, but it a reasonably thought out article dealing with all the things that have been littering Facebook and the Internet in general for years now.   Believe it or not, the more rationally minded of you may actually understand where I’m coming from…even if you don’t agree.   I know my diatribe below may not change your mind, but sometimes a man just has to lay it out on the line.   I’m sure you understand. Enough is enough already!   Gay marriage is a done deal, Abortion is a done deal, and gun rights are a done deal.   Do you honestly think you’re going to be able to change things to match your worldview and personal interpretation of what is right and wrong?   Good luck with that, and while you’re at it…get me a few lottery tickets. Gay adoptive parents, giving kids a home and love.  Ask yourself one thing.   How, in what way, will two men or two women getting m...

The World Is A Dangerous Place

I’ve been reluctant to write this blog entry but I cannot hold it in any longer.   If you are a friend of mine who is anti-gun you may want to stop reading now if you value our friendship.   I’ll not bring this topic up to you in person but consider this your fair warning. This year we’ve had two high profile mass murders in our country.   First in Aurora, Colorado at the Batman movie where seventy-one people were shot or otherwise wounded.   More recently in Newtown, Connecticut where the senseless slaying of six innocent teachers and twenty children took place.   There are other shootings that have taken place this year that have not had such a dramatic presence in the media.    There actually have been a total of sixteen mass shootings with total casualties of at least 88 victims.  Honestly, this sickens me. ·       February 22, 2012— Five people were killed in at a Korean health spa in Norcross, Georgia, w...

Thoughts after the shooting in Aurora, Colorado

Breaking from the norm here as I address the shootings at the Batman movie in Aurora, Colorado.  I am not out to change anyone’s mind…this is merely my position on this issue.  If you change your mind…fine.  If not…fine. First of all (at the risk of sounding cliché) this is a tragedy…no doubt about it.  The senseless slaughter of these people who were out to escape from the pressures of daily life and immerse themselves into the world one of the greatest comic book heroes in the history of illustrated entertainment is heartbreaking.  I want everyone reading this to be perfectly clear that I do not condone the actions of James Holmes in any way shape or form. Now on to the rest of the story… Before continuing I want to make it clear that not only am I a firm supporter of the Second Amendment, but of ALL of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. Not surprisingly, Senator Lautenberg of New Jersey has made yet another call for gun contr...

Lessons of Existence

"I'd like to know why I am in the situation I am?" ~ ARC I’ve been pondering this for a while now and I think I may have an answer.   Life is a series of learning experiences.  We all learn based on what decisions are made by ourselves and on our behalf by others.  Some things we have control over, other things we do not. We may not generally like some things that occur as a result of our decisions or by the actions of others…nonetheless we have to learn how to deal with the circumstances that life has presented to us.  Self pity and wallowing in our own despair is never productive.  We, as human beings, must take all of our situations, good and bad, by the proverbial horns and try to make the best of it.  For some people this leads to financial prosperity, for others it leads to financial failure.  There are, however, more important things than money.  Personal integrity, self esteem, wisdom…just to name a few.  T...
